writing a personal manifesto is a powerful tool for getting unstuck in life. for declaring independence from what no longer serves you, and writing yourself into a new chapter.
but ain’t nobody got time to write a whole-ass manifesto.
enter… the six-sentence manifesto workshop!
this is a format i’ve been tinkering with the last few months. the goal was to distill each of the most evocative ingredients of a transformative personal manifesto into a single sentence.
those ingredients are…
- the prison: articulating the hidden walls of your stuckness in a way that you can’t unsee.
- the underworld: looking beneath the surface of your patterns, and bringing compassion to what you find.
- the price: making it crystal clear what the cost will be, should this pattern stay stuck in place.
- the promise: out beyond fear and frustration, there is a world of possibility. i will meet you there.
- the path: grounding the journey ahead in the reality of being an imperfect human.
- the practice: rooting your transformation in a simple symbolic practice, one you can always return to when the journey gets rough.
(yes, all of these start with p except for the second one, and it bugs me so much! if you think of something better, please let me know).
anyhow, i legit love this format, and i’ve used it for myself to write micro manifestos about my relationships with food and emotional exhaustion (two things i struggle a lot with).
lastly, i’m teaching this alongside my homie christina ducruet, who runs labyrxnth, which hosts delightful digital retreats for seekers and creatives.
in our dynamic, i’m the think-y guy who devises clever manifesto naming schemes, while christina is great at actually facilitating transformational experiences. we’ve got a solid complementary yin and yang vibe between us.
the first version we tested a few weeks ago was a blast, and this one will surely be even better. just bring some aspect of your life where you're feeling a bit stuck and frustrated, and we'll make some manifesto magic together 🫡
